RSVP For Urban Voices’s CoffeeHouse featuring our very own Tom Grode

Sunday April 16, 2-5pm at Inner City Arts on 7th Street. Go to urbanvoicesproject.org and click on the front page Coffeehouse image to register.

Tom’s Song is COOL by the Jonas Brothers, coached by Kayo Anderson, who does the music for Pastor Cue's Friday night Skid Row church and at St. Mark's UMC in South LA. Tom is performing this song as a way to advocate around Skid Row Cooling Resources (SRCR).

While SRCR as a Pilot Project in 2021 was considered a huge success, it was seriously cut back for 2022. There were 4 Cooling Stations the summer of 2021, down to 2 the summer of 2022, and so we want 4 (or more!) this summer 2023. We also hope to seriously contend for the summer Air Conditioning needs of Skid Row Housing Trust and SRO Housing residents.

Of course Water is a need all year.....more Waterboxes!! https://youtu.be/N-KejiQi65Y

Access to internet service is crucial.

The FCC’s Affordable Connectivity Program provides a $30 dollar monthly benefit for internet service. Find out how you can get your home connected at: Getconnectedlosangeles.lacity.org.

Scripture: Matthew 28:1-10

The Resurrection of Jesus

After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And suddenly there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. For fear of him the guards shook and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, “He has been raised from the dead, and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him.” This is my message for you.’ So they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.Suddenly Jesus met them and said, ‘Greetings!’ And they came to him, took hold of his feet, and worshipped him. Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.’

One: This is the Word of God for us, the people of God.
All: Thanks be to God!

Easter Sermon: Set Your Mind on Things That Are Above - Rev. Mandy McDow

HOLY COMMUNION

Invitation to the Table: As we understand the Body of Christ to be inclusive, we understand God’s table of grace and fellowship can extend into our homes. As you’re able, bring your own elements to this time. Bread, Juice, Coffee, Muffins… the Body of Christ is comprised of wonder and mystery. Today, we celebrate that God can reach us where we are, even if we are not together.

The Great Mystery of our Faith
All
: Christ has died
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

MUSIC DURING OFFERING AND COMMUNION: Ring the Bells - El Dorado

Benediction Remember:
God is with you,
God is for you,
God refuses to be God without you.
And may all of God’s people say: Amen.

Christ is Risen!
Christ is Risen Indeed!
Alleluia!
